About the Event
Come and join us in the Rhinogydd. We’ll be exploring the temperate rainforest of Coed Crafnant then wandering up on to the flanks of Rhinog Fawr, maybe even to the manganese mines. And, all the while learning about lichens. What are they, why are they special, how can we identify them, and what do they tell us about places? Why are they so incredible?
Nathan is a leading member of the British Lichenological Society’s education team. He’s also a climber and a mountain leader. He has a real talent for explaining lichen in an accessible way and making everything fit into place. He’ll give you stories that you can use with your groups.
The location is really special too, this is a rare patch of British rainforest and it’s managed by the North Wales Wildlife trust. It gives a glimpse of what many Welsh valley sides could look like. We should see, or hear, some good bird life and the early spring flowers will be about too.
Make a date to join this very special new workshop, new leader, new location, (same old Mike, chipping in about flowers, birds and the like though!)
We’ll be on the hill all day so bring your packed lunch and dress for a hill day on rough terrain.
